This plan was also established as a priority in the Public Lands Master Plan and General Obligation Bond in 2022. Public Lands received CIP funding in 2021 to develop an Adaptive Reuse and Management Plan for Allen Park. Crews will take precautions to avoid harming existing structures, artwork, and wildlife at Allen Park. Due to the amount of work required within the creek corridor to mitigate flooding, there may be some visual evidence of the debris removal as the park re-opens. Project and park status will be re-assessed Friday, May 12th. The park will be closed to the public beginning some time on Tuesday, through at least Sunday, May 14, 2023. While this work is being completed and heavy machinery is being utilized on-site, Salt Lake City is closing Allen Park to the public as a safety precaution. The vegetation being removed has been assessed and approved for removal by Salt Lake City Trails and Natural Lands, Urban Forestry and Salt Lake County Flood Control. Some of the debris within the corridor includes invasive trees, and other large dead or dying trees, and will require a large crane for removal.
